Re: Massachusetts Public Records Request

Dear Public Records Officer This is a request under the Massachusetts Public Records Law (M. G. L. Chapter 66, Section 10). I am requesting that I be provided a copy of records from the Newton 311 system dated Aug. 1, 2019, to the present.

This request is similar in scope to a previous request made to the city of Newton on Aug. 26, 2019, which was fulfilled by the city on Oct. 7, 2019.

This new request merely seeks access to records created since that previous Aug. 26 request.

The Oct. 7, 2019, response was provided in Excel format. I would request the response to this new request be provided in Excel format as well.
I recognize that you may charge reasonable costs for copies, as well as for personnel time needed to comply with this request. If you expect costs to exceed $10.00, please provide a detailed fee estimate.

I do not believe the records are exempt under MGL Chapter 66, Section 10. However, if you believe the records contain exempt material, the law requires that you redact only those portions of the records and release the rest of the documents.

The Public Records Law requires you to provide me with a written response within 10 business days. If you cannot comply with my request, you are statutorily required to provide an explanation in writing.

Please contact me via e-mail regarding any questions with this request.

Thank you,

John Hilliard
